BenefitsCheckUp

BenefitsCheckUp

The National Council on Aging has launched BenefitsCheckUp, a free online service that enables older Americans to research federal and state benefits assistance programs. Sponsored by America Online, New York Life, Lucent Technologies, the Merck Company Foundation, and the Archstone Foundation, the service asks users to spend 10 to 15 minutes to fill out an online questionnaire and then identifies programs for which they might qualify. There's almost no exchange of personal information (e.g., name, address, Social Security number, etc.), and NOCA maintains that the service is completely confidential.
