Community Organizing Toolbox: A Funder's Guide to Community Organizing

The Neighborhood Funders Group, a D.C.-based network of grantmakers working to expand support for organizations that help low-income people improve their communities, has published an online version of its Community Organizing Toolbox: A Funder's Guide to Community Organizing. The Toolbox includes a history of the community organizing movement and information about the different types of organizations doing communtiy organizing today ("The Basics"); insights into how and why different foundations became involved in community organizing funding ("Grantmakers and Community Organizing"); two in-depth case studies (the Hyams Foundation and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation); and a comprehensive Resources section. Available in HTML and PDF formats, as well as in hard copy.
