A focus on supporting equitable outcomes for employees, customers, and communities of color can help businesses secure a competitive advantage, a report from FSG in partnership with PolicyLink finds. The report, The Competitive Advantage of Racial Equity (32 pages, PDF), found that companies are finding new sources of growth and profit in products and services that serve a broader customer base and meet the needs of people of color. Companies are also looking to cultivate more diverse, innovative, and productive workforces and working to improve regulatory frameworks and creating opportunities for communities of color. Funded by the Ford and W.K. Kellogg foundations, the report identifies opportunities to advance racial equity at every stage of a company’s value chain, from hiring, training, and promoting employee, to procurement, product design, marketing, and governance structure.
