The Vera Institute of Justice seeks a motivated Communications Coordinator with a passion for social justice and a keen interest in the power of communications to join a highly productive team. Reporting to the vice president for communications and public affairs, the coordinator will handle the administrative work of the department as well as work collaboratively with other communication staff to support and strengthen the communications effort at Vera.
He/she will gain experience with all aspects of communications and be responsible for assuming a variety of administrative, editorial, media monitoring, web posting and support tasks.
Our ideal candidate has:
- BA degree and at least one year relevant office experience, including internships or volunteer experience.
- Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with, and without, close supervision.
- Solid organizational skills and the ability to manage work on multiple projects efficiently.
- A demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience with social media and event planning a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Salary: $38,000 - $48,000 per year, plus excellent benefits including health/dental, paid family leave, educational assistance and Institute-sponsored social opportunities.
