Job Summary

The Donor Stewardship and Database Associate is an important member of the Development and Communications team, contributing to effective and efficient operations for all fund development initiatives. The Donor Stewardship and Database Associate is responsible for maintaining and managing the quality and integrity of the donor database so that it is a robust and reliable resource that informs donor cultivation and stewardship strategy, produces and implements accurate and complete reports, and tracks all funder compliance requirements related to corporate and foundation gifts.

The Donor Stewardship and Database Associate is responsible for acknowledging all gifts, ensuring relevant, timely, error-free communications that inspire donors to feel valued and loyal to the organization. The Associate contributes to, maintains and implements the calendar of donor communications including e-blasts, newsletters, invitations, anniversary, lapsed donor, welcome mailings, makes thank you calls and performs other stewardship activities. The Associate conducts donor research, assists with the grant application process and provides support for special events. Maintain donor database, entering cash and in-kind donations and pledges; track all corporate and foundation compliance requirements. Conduct research to make donor records as comprehensive as possible.


Bachelor's degree and minimum two years database experience, advanced Excel and basic math skills and the ability to deliver a work product that needs little or no correction, are required. Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, meticulous attention to detail and proven ability to manage strict deadlines are essential. Strong preference for experience in a nonprofit development environment. Prior experience engaging donors on the telephone is preferred. A polished, professional and sincere manner is imperative in order to engender trust and respect.
