Job Summary

Magen David Yeshivah High School is seeking a Chairperson for our Science program for the 2018 - 2019 school year and onward.  Magen David Yeshivah High School is an innovative institution that values reflection and growth. We are seeking a department chair who can expand our current program,  introduce us to new developments and the most current pedagogy and who can broaden our perspective by involving our students in competitive STEM and Science fairs.


The Department Chair will take a lead role in curriculum development and will ensure that rigor and innovation are being pursued and good practices are being followed. As teacher leader, the chair is expected to create a Professional Learning Community that is focused on teaching, learning and innovation. The chair will assist in hiring, training, evaluating, and supporting the faculty members in the Science Department.  Additionally, the department chair is expected to serve as a communication liaison who openly participates in dialogue with faculty, administration, students and parents to ensure that the goals and direction of the program are clearly understood and in line with the mission of the school.


  • Education: Master’s Degree in Science or Education required
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years supervisory and/or administrative experience and 3 additional years of classroom teaching experience required

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
