ACT for Alexandria (ACT), a community foundation based in Alexandria, Virginia, is searching for its next President & CEO. Through strategic initiatives and smart philanthropy, ACT provides communityminded and philanthropically-inclined Alexandrians with ways to focus their contributions in the community. Since its founding in 2004, ACT has turned ideas into action and resources into results. With assets exceeding $14 million, ACT hosts over 90 funds including both Donor Advised Funds and Field of Interest Funds. It connects donors with causes they are passionate about while collaborating with nonprofits to exceed expectations. As ACT’s most visible representative, the President & CEO plays a leading role in continuing to improve the foundation’s impact on Alexandria by serving as a strategic thinker, connector, convener and collaborator with nonprofits and generous ACT donors, many of whom have Donor Advised Funds at ACT.
ACT’s next action-oriented and forward-thinking President & CEO will focus on the two key elements of strategic initiatives and smart philanthropy. The position demands a personal passion and commitment to causes, nonprofits and donors in Alexandria.
ACT Board of Directors
The President & CEO will focus on:
- Providing leadership in the development of a strategic plan to drive the next stage of ACT’s mission and vision. The plan will include the strategy for developing the resources needed and metrics to evaluate ACT’s success in execution.
- Increasing philanthropic giving in Alexandria by increasing the number and level of assets of ACT’s Donor Advised Funds and working with donors interested in optimizing the impact of their giving.
- Collaborating closely with nonprofits whose mission is to serve the Alexandria community, expanding their capacity by nurturing well-managed and sustainable organizations.
- Leading a committed team of professionals who work closely with an engaged board of diverse community, business, and government leaders to ensure the success and effectiveness of ACT and the organizations with which ACT works.
