At Central Asia Institute, we are looking for a Marketing and Outreach Coordinator to help the communications team with planning, crafting, and implementing outreach/fundraising efforts, all in the name of sending thousands of children, women, and men to school every year.  

The coordinator will write compelling content designed to take readers on a journey from awareness to engagement to contribution, and help with a wide range of projects, including writing for our blog, penning letters to donors, crafting social media posts, and designing compelling emails. Work on the Pennies for Peace program, where marketing efforts are geared towards traditional and nontraditional teachers, will also be a focus of the position. Ideal candidates will be detail oriented, hardworking, curious, and full of ideas about how to rally diverse audiences around the organization’s mission.

This position isn’t only about what you can do for CAI, but what CAI can do for you. With the position, you will receive training in the areas of marketing, fundraising, Central and South Asian culture, digital advertising, nonprofit organization management, and much more.

Content Production

  • Assist with planning and implementation of multiple coordinated direct mail/electronic campaigns.
  • Assist with design, coordination, and publication of electronic newsletters, social media messages, and information for programs.
  • Assist with research, preparation, formatting, and writing of blogs.
  • Assist in the development and design of email series for each phase of engagement (new donor, monthly giver, etc.) and various interest groups (geo-political issues, girls’ education, etc.)
  • Works with development staff to create stories that compliment CAI’s stewardship/impact-reporting plan.  

Other duties and tasks as assigned by management.



Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • Two years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or related career.

2.         Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Familiarity with AP Style.
  • Previous experience working with email marketing tools and website content management systems.
  • Willingness to communicate and collaborate with overseas partners, for whom English is not a first language.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Proven ability to problem-solve in a proactive manner.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, excellent time management.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with peers.
  • Self-motivated; with demonstrated ability to take independent action and assume responsibility.
  • Ability to achieve measurable, meaningful results in a fast-paced environment and ability to embrace and incorporate direct feedback.
