Job Summary


Reports To

Manager, Criminal Court Programs


Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct client centered safety assessments and risk management planning on domestic violence cases from 120h precinct;
  • Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and practical assistance to victims of domestic violence in person and by telephone;
  • Provide information and referrals for clients for services such as shelters, relocation, mental health services, public assistance and other entitlements;
  • Work collaboratively with domestic violence officers in order to effectively provide assistance to victims;
  • Conduct home visits with domestic violence officers to families at high risk;
  • Collect data, track the history of violence, and prepare monthly reports;
  • Advocate as needed with Family and Criminal court staff for client needs and provide assistance in navigating the family court and criminal justice systems;
  • Connect families for services at the Criminal, Family, IDV courts or at community-based organizations;
  • Coordinate community resources for domestic violence victims;
  • Conduct police trainings and community presentations;
  • Attend relevant trainings, team meetings; workshops and seminars;
  • Perform data entry into a computerized record keeping system and maintain thorough and accurate case records and statistics; and
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

  • Richmond County Family Court and Criminal Court staff
  • Integrated Domestic Violence Court staff
  • Richmond County District Attorney office
  • Various other social service organizations 


  • Sensitivity towards and understanding of victimization, especially the experience of survivors of domestic violence;
  • Experience with the family court and criminal justice system preferred;
  • Strong communication and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a calm and reassuring manner; and
  • Ability to generate tasks and develop creative solutions to problems.


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience;
  • Bilingual in Spanish required.
