Background

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is currently seeking an experienced Grants Manager to join its Development department and implement the Museum’s corporate, foundation, and government grants strategy for annual operations, restricted programs, strategic initiatives, and capital projects. This position works closely with senior leadership, curators, program and facilities staff, and volunteers in order to advance the Museum’s fundraising priorities. This is a unique opportunity for a development professional to increase financial support from institutional funding sources for the Museum's campaign.

Job Summary

  • Manage and steward a portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government grants
  • Identify and secure new institutional funding streams for Museum projects
  • Prepare letters of inquiry, grant applications, reports and attachments, corporate partnership proposals and presentations, stewardship reports, and other related grant correspondence

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of established foundation, government, and corporate donors to secure funding for unrestricted support and restricted projects
  • Initiate inquiries with agency program officers to advance Museum funding requests and applications for support
  • Work with multiple Museum departments to craft compelling proposals
  • Manage departmental grant program processes (kick-off meetings, requests for information, project timelines, internal review, etc.) in coordination with key project staff
  • Write and prepare letters of inquiry/grant proposals/grant applications/grant reports and other related grant correspondence in collaboration with PMA leadership and senior development staff
  • Write and prepare interim and final reports, close-out narrative and financial reports, etc. to foundation, government, and restricted corporate donors
  • Prepare and coordinate proposals, briefings, attachments, and other dossiers for  leadership to facilitate the solicitation process
  • Meet all project and grant deadlines
  • Coordinate with  Finance department to ensure transparency and accountability in financial reporting to foundation and government donors
  • Manage organizational relationships with a portfolio of institutional donors , providing dedicated relationship management to program officers
  • Provide ongoing stewardship to portfolio of donors for their support
  • Research prospective foundation, government and corporate donors
  • Provide cross-functional briefings to the Institutional Support team on foundation and government matters
  • Track grant opportunities and activities in the grants calendar and in Raiser’s Edge
  • Maintain accurate records for foundation and government donors in paper files and in Raiser’s Edge database

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with arts or English major; Master’s degree preferred
  • At least 4 years successful fundraising experience in an arts or education setting with grant writing and organizational giving experience strongly preferred
  • Exceptional writing ability and excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Flexibility in meeting shifting demands and priorities  
  • Knowledge of the corporate, foundation and government philanthropy landscape is an advantage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required; familiarity with Raiser’s Edge, Adobe Acrobat, and Photoshop is an advantage
