Job Summary

The Alabama School of Mathematics and Science, a public residential STEM high school located in Mobile, Ala., is seeking a Development Director. Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred, and a minimum of five years professional development experience preferably with demonstrated annual and major gift experience. Responsibilities: Planning, organizing, and directing all of fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, grant proposals, special events, and capital campaigns.

The Alabama School of Mathematics and Science School President/Director

Responsibilities

The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, grant proposals, special events, and capital campaigns. Essential Functions:

  • The Director works closely with the ASMS President, Foundation Board President, and Board of Directors in all development and fund-raising endeavors. 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, writing ability, and strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Supervise alumni and parent outreach programs. 
  • Prepare and implement short-range and long-range plans of action. 
  • Train, supervise, and manage support staff. 
  • Must be computer literate and willing and able to learn the school’s data base system.
  • Implement the mission, goals and policies of ASMS and enforces and comply with the policies and procedures of the ASMS Board of Directors.
  • Various other duties as assigned by the President/Director.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, and master’s degree preferred. A minimum of five years professional development experience preferably with demonstrated annual and major gift experience.
