Third Street offers weekly after-school and Saturday music instruction (group and individual) in most instruments and voice, along with theory, composition, ensemble and performance activities. The School also provides music instruction to adults of all ages and levels, and presents more than 200 free, public concerts and recitals by students, faculty and guest artists every year.

Job Summary

The Development Manager will provide support for all Development activities including annual fund and campaign operations, efficient database management, as well as the donor tracking, cultivation, solicitation, and acknowledgement process. To meet fundraising revenue and engagement goals, the Development Manager will oversee procedures for gift processing and acknowledgements; lead efforts toward the identification, cultivation and relationship management of individual donors and prospects (gifts up to $500); coordinate and assist in event planning for the gala and other Development events/activities, including volunteer recruitment and management; and manage in-kind giving. 

 Under the direction of the Director of Development & Institutional Advancement and working collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Individual Giving and key leadership staff, the Development Manager will develop and implement an individual donor program, including fundraising and communications collateral (e.g., social media, web content, newsletters) toward the success of the 125th Anniversary Campaign. The Development Manager is essential to the Development team’s efforts to raise annual and campaign funds for the 125th Anniversary and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee production and design of annual fund solicitations/donor appeals throughout the fiscal year (approximately 4 to 5 appeals), in collaboration with Assistant Director of Individual Giving
  • Develop and execute donor solicitations strategy to raise individual gifts of up to $500
  • Assist with special events involving stewardship, cultivation and direct fundraising
  • Working with Development team, craft and develop volunteer management efforts
  • Maintain and manage donor database in Raiser’s Edge (including queries, reports, trends, etc.)
  • Oversee procedures for gift processing including batching and data entry, monthly financial reconciliations, credit card processing, daily deposits of checks, cash and credit cards and acknowledgments.
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data, input and output
  • With the Director of Development & Institutional Advancement, liaise with the Finance department to reconcile revenue on a quarterly basis and for the annual audit, so that Finance can work directly with the auditors
  • Maintain monthly revenue reports to help create annual projections and future year budget goals
  • Develop and oversee in-kind contributions
  • Support mailings and process acknowledgments
  • With organizational leadership and Development team, craft comprehensive plan for 125th Anniversary Campaign
  • Coordinate and implement all social media and online fundraising initiatives with marketing and communications team

Qualifications

  • Three or more years related work experience
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized
  • Capable of cultivating relationships both internally and externally
  • Self-motivated, with capacity to multi-task as a team player
  • Ability to adhere to production schedule and meet deadlines
  • Excellent, clear and compelling writing and communications skills
  • Ability to develop and manage ideas from concept to implementation
  • Availability to occasionally work evenings and weekend hours in connection with events
  • Proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheets, databases and fundraising software
  • Basic math competency for budgeting and reporting
  • Proficiency in accessing and using research tools, social media and digital applications
  • Knowledge of and ability to engender appreciation of music, arts and arts education
