Job Summary

Position Summary

EarthShare is seeking a strategic and visionary leader to serve as the Chief Executive Officer. The Chief Executive Officer will serve as the public face of EarthShare and be responsible for building strong relationships with our member network and funding partners. This position also will lead our talented team and ensure we successfully execute our strategic plan and achieve our mission. The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated passion for the environment, a successful record of executive leadership, and extensive experience securing strong funding relationships. In addition, s/he will bring a proven record of experience successfully running the day-to-day operations of a virtually managed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors, staff, member network, and other partners to successfully achieve EarthShare’s mission by executing the existing strategic plan and leading the development of the next iteration
  • Manage the day-to-day administration of the organization, including ensuring best practices and compliance in EarthShare’s finances, operations, legal, human resources, and information technology
  • Expand and diversify EarthShare’s revenue sources, including corporate, foundation, and individual funders
  • Build and maintain diverse, multi-faceted relationships with partners across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to advance the mission of EarthShare
  • Serve as the external representative and principal spokesperson of EarthShare in the media and in public forums
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and transparency within EarthShare by continuing efforts to build, retain, and motivate a strong and talented team of professionals
  • Cultivate a solid working relationship with the Board and ensure open communication about the measurement of financial, programmatic, and impact performance against stated milestones and goals

Qualifications

  • Passion for protecting the health of our planet
  • Proven leadership experience managing the operations and administration of an organization or large department
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies, processes, and systems to optimize an organization’s operational efficiency
  • Proven ability to raise funding from diverse sources, including corporate partnerships, to support an organization’s mission
  • Track record of managing teams and balancing competing priorities and resources across teams, ideally in a virtually managed environment
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Creative, adaptive problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative working style with an ability to build consensus
