Job Summary

JUST TRYAN IT seeks an Executive Director to lead the organization through the next exciting phase of growth in supporting families in treatment for pediatric cancers. Building on a strong foundation, the Executive Director will be responsible for leading the organization’s strategic direction, increasing the organization’s visibility, overseeing the day-to-day operations of its programs, ensuring its financial sustainability, and engaging in the national conversation about cancer-related financial toxicity. The ideal candidate is a passionate and visionary leader who exemplifies the organization’s core values of equity, commitment, compassion, connectedness, and integrity, brings experience effectively leading the strategic direction and growth of an organization, and is grounded in the realities of a small nonprofit. The Executive Director is ideally based in one of the communities we support; some travel is required.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Lead JUST TRYAN IT’s future growth and strategic direction; collaborate with the Board, staff, community, and key stakeholders to set clear goals and achieve the mission of JUST TRYAN IT

  • Team Leadership and Culture: Provide leadership and vision to the JUST TRYAN IT team and maintain a vibrant and passionate culture that promotes growth and accountability across the organization
  • Program Leadership: Oversee the management and continued improvement of all programs, including kids’ triathlons, consistent with the organization’s mission and values
  • Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including funders, nonprofit and community partners, supported families, racing families, and the Board
  • Operations and Financial Management: Oversee the successful execution of the organization’s day-to-day operations, including effective strategic financial decision-making and management, reporting, and compliance
  • Fundraising: Manage and grow existing funder relationships and implement expanded funding strategies that generate new revenue from diverse sources to ensure organizational sustainability
  • Community Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with the community members, volunteers, racers, and families served by JUST TRYAN IT, consistently modeling deep care, investment, and warmth
  • Communications: Serve as the principal spokesperson and passionate advocate for JUST TRYAN IT, while increasing our national visibility

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated passion for JUST TRYAN IT’s mission
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to manage the strategic, financial, operational, and team leadership needs of a community-based, family-serving nonprofit
  • Experience planning and hosting multifaceted events with varied logistical challenges
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving meaningful and measurable outcomes
  • Experience working for a nonprofit, and/or experience serving on a nonprofit Board of Directors
  • Positive, engaging, and entrepreneurial leadership style
  • Exceptional technical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
