We have an exciting opportunity for a Major Gifts Officer to join our growing, ASME Foundation team. The ASME Foundation supports, creates and advances the field of engineering and molds future engineers by supporting K-12 STEM education programs, engineering for global development
projects, university student and early career development, and public policy and federal fellows programs.
The Major Gifts Officer will plan, coordinate, and implement the individual major donor program to help meet the organization’s major gifts fundraising goal and build the donor base. This individual will be responsible for direct solicitation of gifts as well as for coordination of staff and volunteers in additional cultivation and solicitation and is expected to meet annual fundraising targets. In addition, this role will be accountable for ensuring a disciplined data tracking system is in place, analyzing donor prospect information, preparing reports and other administration-type functions. We are in the midst of implementing a new strategy with plans to bolster commitment to fundraising and philanthropic programs. This lays the groundwork for a Major Gifts Officer, committed to progressive values and social change, to help ASME Foundation achieve its objectives.
This position requires a minimum of 10 years’ experience in fundraising with nonprofit organizations, including major gifts fundraising through both planned
giving and capital campaigns. Successful candidates will have a proven track record of operating in accordance with the highest ethical standards and demonstrating outstanding relationship management ability and sensitivity to donor needs. The position will require substantial travel. Association experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will present other important qualifications and competencies such as:
Communication & Collaboration - Exceptional verbal and written communications skills are required, including writing and editing. Must work effectively among diverse teams and organizations.
Project Management – Strong project management skills and attention to detail are critical to this role. Must have creative problem solving and analytical skills.
Technical Skills - Must have experience working with a contact database and be proficient in Microsoft Office.
