Job Summary

Candidates with excellent writing, administrative and research skills are invited to apply for a full-time Programs and Communications Associate position at the Better Business Bureau® (BBB) and its Education and Research Foundation. BBB program areas include charity accountability, fraud prevention, consumer and business protection, educational content and program development, community outreach, and promotion of responsible business practices.  

Reports To

Senior Vice President-Programs and Services


Work assignments include: helping to plan and execute programs and events; conducting research and writing for community outreach and content development; assisting with press releases and other media materials; customer service; and general office work, such as making calls, generating correspondence, organizing mailings, assembling event materials; maintaining databases, media logs, and email lists, etc.  Tasks may include assignments related to marketing, communications, website management and the charity accountability program; participating in trainings; and assisting with BBB or BBB Foundation projects as needed.  


Candidates should have solid computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; strong writing and research skills; excellent interpersonal skills; a general understanding of social media; a good phone manner; professional attitude; facility with numbers; good record-keeping skills; strong organizational skills; an ability to manage details and follow BBB requirements. Prior office experience and college degree required. Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of nonprofit and/or consumer protection work is preferred. Prior marketing or media relations training or experience, familiarity with common communications or design tools, and bilingual Spanish-English fluency are not required but would be helpful. This is an entry level position.
