Job Summary

As a member of the Philanthropy team, the Individual Giving Program Manager supports the annual budget of the National Service Office for Nurse-Family Partnership and contributes to the success of the organization’s multi-year scaling plan. The primary purpose of this position is to support the successful growth of individual giving to the organization through acquisition of new donors and the retention, cultivation and stewardship of current donors, including employees. More specifically, the position is responsible for the development and successful implementation of the Annual Fund (donors who give up to $999 annually), Monthly Giving, Mid-Level (donors who give between $1,000 and $4,000 annually) and Workplace Giving programs, including online giving, direct mail solicitations, acquisition and renewals, program reporting and analysis, donor acknowledgements and overall communication with these target segments.

Success will require an individual who is driven, creative and performs well under pressure in a dynamic environment and as part of a maturing fundraising program and growing team. A successful application for this position will require a cover letter.

Reports To

The Director, Individual Giving and has no direct reports.

Responsibilities

75% Program Management

  • Strategize, design, and effectively implement all facets of the Annual Fund and Mid-Level programs, including new donor acquisition, retention and renewals, upgrades, and special gift appeals through all available giving channels (online, direct mail, crowdfunding, Giving Tuesday, etc.).
  • Set annual fundraising targets and implement strategies to realize revenue through renewal, retention, upgrade and acquisition goals.
  • Lead the effort to create a robust annual calendar and content for engagement of Annual Fund and Mid-Level donors, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship campaigns. As appropriate, conduct personalized outreach that helps to move donors through the donor pipeline.
  • Coordinate acquisition of key organizational constituents to build the donor pipeline, including program alumnae, volunteers, employees and advocates, as well as identify and target key market segments, such as moms, nurses and the like.
  • Develop Mid-Level Program into a robust program that stewards, qualifies and upgrades donors to the Major Gifts Program; facilitate seamless hand off of high-capacity prospects into managed portfolios as appropriate.
  • Serve as the liaison for all vendors or services retained to support tactical implementation, such as external writers and designers, strategy consultants, mail house, online giving platforms, etc.
  • Develop annual program budgets to support defined outcomes and long-term objectives. Manage program expenses to ensure effective use of resources, maintain expenditures within approved budget, and demonstrate return on investments.
  • Leverage CRM to build and track campaigns and appeals, create strategic solicitation segmentation, for data collection, to generate reports and lists, and conduct analysis to build on success and advance the program. Ensure data integrity through timely and accurate data entry.
  • Optimize digital marketing and marketing automation tools to maximize impact and efficiency of efforts.
  • Analyze program performance, adjust tactics accordingly and report progress against goals.
  • Develop and implement programmatic branding and messaging for targeted segments, including monthly donor program and new donor welcome series.
  • Where appropriate, leverage telephone and face-to-face solicitation strategies.

15% Donor Acknowledgements and Receipting

  • Manage acknowledgement process ensuring timely, accurate and personalized (as appropriate) acknowledgements of all gifts.
  • Ensure accurate and timely receipting for all eligible charitable donations.
  • Create and distribute annual cumulative giving summaries for all monthly donors and upon request.
  • Maintain complete files and records in support of organization’s annual audit and consistent with industry standards.

10% Workplace Giving

  • Design and implement annual workplace giving campaign through outright giving and payroll deductions.
  • Build an internal culture of philanthropy that celebrates, encourages and embraces giving.
  • Create annual fundraising target and implement plan to support realization of revenue goals.
  • Analyze program performance, adjust tactics accordingly and report progress against goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in fundraising, specifically with Annual Fund and individual giving focus
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current and relevant fundraising techniques, channels, industry best practices and standard operating procedures for Annual Fund programs and donor relations
  • Strong persuasive writing and strategic planning skills to utilize a discrete number of solicitations that maximize giving opportunities for the Nurse-Family Partnership donor community
  • Demonstrated experience with designing Annual Fund and Mid-Level campaigns, and specifically with writing, designing and implementing solicitation appeals across all channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and solicit individual donors, ideally with face-to-face solicitation experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to substantially increase, sustain and upgrade individual donor base.
  • Experience with online giving platforms and diversifying an organization’s use of additional giving vehicles with high return on investment.
  • Significant experience working with customer relations management (CRM) databases, including an understanding of best practices in the use of these tools to support philanthropic outcomes across fundraising channels. Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Significant experience in marketing automation and e-mail marketing platforms (Pardot preferred).
  • Ability to present program performance analysis and reporting that is accurate, timely and identifies opportunities to advance the program and meet revenue goals.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and build relationships across teams.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint – required.
