Atlantic Philanthropies Awards Grants Totaling $11 Million to Nonprofits in Ireland, Northern Ireland

Atlantic Philanthropies has awarded grants totaling more than $11.5 million (£7.5 million) to nonprofit organizations in Ireland and Northern Ireland, Fundraising UK reports.

Grant recipients include the Northern Ireland Hospice in Newtownabbey, which was awarded nearly $3.5 million (£2.3 million) — one of the largest grants ever to an organization in Northern Ireland — and the Irish Hospice Foundation in Dublin, which received more than $1.9 million (€1.5 million); the grants will help the organizations provide palliative care to people with dementia.

In addition, Atlantic awarded $970,000 (€750,000) to Philanthropy Ireland, which works to promote philanthropy in the Republic of Ireland; $1 million (£671,000) to the UK National Children's Bureau to help improve outcomes for children and youth in Northern Ireland by building capacity in evidence-based prevention and early intervention policy and practice; and more than $23,000 (£15,000) to the Association of Charitable Foundations to increase involvement of UK trusts and foundations in Northern Ireland.
