The Cleveland Foundation has announced grants totaling $16.5 million to local nonprofit organizations, including $1.5 million through its capital grants program, Crains Cleveland Business reports.

The capital grants include $1 million to the Cleveland Foodbank to support the construction of a new 60,000-square-foot facility, which will include nearly 10,000 square feet of refrigerator and freezer space and a 4,800-square-foot kitchen. The foundation also awarded $500,000 to Urban Community School to support construction of a new building that will help the school enroll an additional two hundred students from low-income backgrounds.

Established in 1999, the capital grants program has awarded $6 million to support capital projects.
