California

The Community Foundation Santa Cruz County in Aptos has announced Susan True as its new CEO, effective October 11. Selected after a national search, True will succeed Lance Linares, who held the post for twenty-two years. The Silicon Valley Community Foundation has announced that thousands of residents will participate in small gatherings designed to let people voice their concerns about the Bay Area's housing challenges — all while sharing a meal. The one-day event, On the Table, is part of a national community-building initiative launched in 2015 by the Chicago Community Trust that brings people together over a meal to brainstorm and discuss ideas for improving their community. More than two hundred nonprofit organizations have already registered to host public On the Table discussions for the Bay Area event on November 15, and SVCF expects that at least three thousand Bay Area residents will gather in homes, coffee shops, offices, churches, etc. to discuss solutions to the housing crisis in the region.
