Community Foundation Update (10/03/15)

California

The Silicon Valley Community Foundation has announced the establishment of a "preferred referral" relationship with the Emergency Assistance Foundation to help companies seeking emergency assistance for their employees during times of hardship or disaster. Under the agreement, EAF will refer clients seeking to enhance their grantmaking or corporate social responsibility efforts to SVCF, while the community foundation will recommend the services of EAF to any of its clients or partners wishing to establish programs to provide charitable emergency funding to employees. Charitable assistance is most often sought in situations involving the loss or destruction of a personal residence, life-threatening illness or injury, or a spouse’s loss of employment. Employees affected by certain types of disasters also are often eligible to receive charitable assistance. Through these funds, employers can provide a structured way for employees to help colleagues in their time of need.
