The Marin Community Foundation has issued a Request for Qualifications to identify potential developers of affordable housing on the Grady Ranch. Earlier this year, filmmaker George Lucas cancelled plans to build a new studio on the property and asked the foundation to lead an effort to explore its use for affordable housing.


The Denver Foundation has announced the launch of Give magazine to highlight philanthropy in the metro Denver area. The magazine will feature stories of transformative philanthropy, trends in giving, charitable advice, interviews, and ways for individuals, families, and organizations to get involved in the community.


The Greater New Orleans Foundation has announced that seven local nonprofit organizations successfully completed the Richard West Freeman Endowment Challenge and raised enough money to open an endowment at the foundation. The Freeman Challenge matches $1 for every $2 raised by participating nonprofits for the purpose of establishing an endowment and ensuring their financial stability. Seven nonprofit organizations collectively raised more than $150,000 that was matched by $75,000 from the challenge. They are Communities in Schools, the Choice Foundation/
Lafayette Academy, Kids Rethink New Orleans Schools, the Metropolitan Center for Women and Children, the Terrebonne Historical and Cultural Society, and the Woodlands Conservancy.


The Oregon Community Foundation has awarded $22,000 to the Hermiston School District for the renovation of Kennison Field, the Bellingham Herald reports. The district needs to raise an additional $42,000 to fully fund the project, which seeks to improve the football and track facility at Hermiston High School so that it can be used for state-level athletic events.


The Pittsburgh Foundation has named Kate Dewey as president of the Forbes Funds, an affiliate organization of the foundation.


The Communities Foundation of Texas has announced that it was named one of the top hundred places to work in the state by the Dallas Morning News. CFT placed No. 17 for small businesses in the competition, which recognizes companies for creating "environments that inspire employees and make them proud to work there."
