The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham has announced that it is accepting applications for 2016 grants through its SAIL Partnership, which provides funding to summer programs that encourage students to explore new interests and acquire the skills needed to prevent summer learning loss. Eleven funders, including the community foundation, will provide support for the program.
The Community Foundation Serving Boulder County has announced the release of its 2015-2016 Boulder County TRENDS Report, which the foundation uses to inform its efforts to improve the quality of life in the community. This year, the report found that Latino children and those who are economically disadvantaged are falling behind their peers academically and, even after implementation of the Affordable Care Act, are less likely to have health insurance.
The Greater New Orleans Foundation has announced that its Organizational Effectiveness Initiative and Gillis, Ellis & Baker, Inc. are hosting a workshop on fair-labor standards and important wage and compensation considerations. The workshop, which is designed for executive directors, human resource directors, and staff and board members with human resource management or supervision responsibilities, will be held on Tuesday, October 13.
The Cape Cod Foundation has announced the creation of the Lower Cape Ambulance Association Fund to help educate and train first responders. The fund also has been selected as the recipient of a Hero Fund America challenge grant, establishing a permanent affiliation with the Hero Fund America Local Hero Fund, which was established in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing.
The Community Foundation of West Chester/Liberty in West Chester has named Erin Clemons as its new president and CEO. Clemons, whose mother was a founding board member of the foundation, has served as the foundation’s vice president of development and donor relations since October.
The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Foundation, has announced that it will award a second round of Revitalizing Westmoreland grants totaling $150,000 in support of community projects in seven communities. The grants in this funding round will address safety, cleanup, and beautification projects. Earlier this year, CFWC awarded $150,000 in grants to nine organizations through its initial funding round.
The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $24,000 through the Green Lake County Area United Fund, which raises funds through an annual banquet to support charitable projects and programs in Green Lake County. Recipients include ADVOCAP, Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services, Special Olympics Wisconsin, and the Wisconsin Association for Home and Community Education.
The Greater Milwaukee Foundation has announced that it is partnering with the Brewers Community Foundation to present a day of free access to Miller Park. The September gift to the community will feature tours, mascot appearances, and a live broadcast of the Milwaukee Brewers (away) game on the center field video board.
