The Eastern Regional Grants Panel of the Idaho Community Foundation in Idaho Falls has announced grants totaling more than $150,000 to sixty-three organizations in eastern and southeastern Idaho. Grants of up to $5,000 were awarded in the areas of arts and culture, education, emergency services, health, conservation and the environment, public projects, and recreation and social services. Recipients include the Snake River New Horizons Band, the Northwest Medical Edge Research Foundation, Bear Lake County Library District, and the Children With Disabilities Foundation.
The Saginaw Community Foundation has received its largest gift ever, a $7 million bequest from Sandra and Carl Werth, Jr., WSGW reports. The gift will establish the Werth Fund, which will support education-based initiatives in Saginaw County.
The Oklahoma City Community Foundation has announced grants totaling $76,000 to five organizations in support of community beautification projects. Grants awarded through the Margaret Annis Boys Trust include $9,000 to the Jefferson Park Neighborhood Association and $6,000 to John Marshall High School. The remaining grants were awarded through the Parks and Public Space initiative to the Greater OKC Youth Association ($30,000), Gatewood Elementary School ($16,000), and the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation ($15,000).
The Seattle International Foundation, an affiliate of the Seattle Foundation, has announced the launch of the Central America Youth Fund, a new grantmaking fund aimed at advancing awareness and giving for projects that empower youth in Central America. CAYF will invest $1 million in programs that expand opportunities for young people in the region and will serve as a resource and intermediary for other donors seeking to support Central American youth.
