Convenience store chain establishes $20 million community fund

Parker's, the Savannah-based convenience store company, has established a $20 million community fund, the Savannah Morning News reports.

To be administered by the Savannah Community Foundation, with the help of a community impact committee in the process of being formed, the Parker's Community Fund will support charitable causes in the Southeast. The company has provided financial support to many projects across the region, including a $5 million gift in 2018 for the Parker College of Business at Georgia Southern University and a naming gift in support of the Parker's Emergency and Trauma Center at Memorial Hospital in Charleston.

"We had an extraordinary year at Parker's in 2020, and we know that a lot of people have been suffering due to the pandemic. It seemed like an ideal time to step up our charitable giving and to give back to help people in need," said Parker's founder and CEO Greg Parker. "At Parker's, we have a deep commitment to giving back to the community and a strong desire to support the customers who have been so loyal to us over the past forty-five years."
