The Cummings Foundation in Woburn, Massachusetts, has announced grants totaling $10 million to one hundred local nonprofit organizations.
Awarded through the foundation's $100K for 100 initiative, a competitive grants program that provides awards of $100,000 to nonprofits based in and primarily serving Middlesex, Essex, and Suffolk counties, this year's grants support organizations working in a range of areas, including underserved populations, education, health care, hunger relief, and homelessness prevention. Now in its second year, the "place-based" program is designed to support nonprofits in communities where Cummings Properties owns or manages commercial buildings.
Founded in 1970 by Bill Cummings, the Woburn-based commercial real estate firm leases and manages more than ten million square feet of commercial space, with most of the proceeds benefiting the foundation.
"Cummings Foundation is dedicated to supporting the communities where the staff and clients of the Cummings organization live and work," said Joel Swets, the foundation's executive director. "We are proud to support this year's grant recipients so they can continue — and in many cases, expand or enhance — their incredibly beneficial work."
