David Toms, Humana Foundations Partner to Assist New Orleans Charities

The Louisville, Kentucky-based Humana Foundation and the David Toms Foundation in Shreveport, Louisiana, have announced grants totaling $400,00 to four children's charities in New Orleans.

After Hurricane Katrina, professional golfer David Toms helped raise more than $1.5 million through his foundation for hurricane relief efforts, most of it distributed in the Shreveport area to help displaced residents of New Orleans. Now, to support the rebuilding effort in New Orleans itself charities, the two foundations have awarded $100,000 each to Reconcile New Orleans, Kingsley House, Desire Street Academy, and City Year Louisiana.

"Our foundation was fortunate enough to help hundreds of families who evacuated to the Shreveport area, but we always wanted to do something in New Orleans when the timing was right," said Toms. "These four charities do outstanding work and will make a positive difference in many children's lives."
