Duke University Names Benjamin N. Duke Memorial Scholars

Duke University has announced the eleven recipients of its Benjamin N. Duke Memorial Scholarship awards.

Funded by the Duke Endowment, the annual scholarships cover full tuition, room, board, and mandatory fees for eight semesters at Duke for students from North and South Carolina who have demonstrated high academic achievement, a commitment to community service, and potential for leadership. The scholarships also include service and leadership development activities and two summer programs, one in the Carolinas and one abroad, during the recipients' undergraduate term at Duke. The full value of each scholarship is estimated to be more than $260,000 over four years.

The 2016 recipients include ten students from high schools in North Carolina and one student from South Carolina.
