Gilbert Donates $10.5 Million to Toys for Tots

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation has received a gift of books and toys valued at $10.5 million from country music star Brantley Gilbert and educational publisher Bendon, Taste of Country reports.

The gift will enable Toys for Tots to distribute toys and books to children and families in need over the holiday season. Gilbert, who has a history of supporting U.S. military families through his charitable work and giving, topped the country charts this fall with One Hell of an Amen, a song celebrating the life and courage of a fallen Marine.

"Bendon's books include Batman, Superman, Clifford the Dog, Disney, Peanuts, and My Little Pony, as well as coloring books, sticker books — and even Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn," said Gilbert. "It's the kind of gift that's both fun and helps kids learn, and I'm honored the folks at Bendon understood why I wanted to work with them for this donation to Toys for Tots. For some children, this may be most of or all the Christmas they'll have this year, and this gift helps them grow as well as play."

"The holidays are a tough period of time for many families, and if we are able to bring a little happiness to a child with a gift which they may not have been otherwise given, then that's a success," said Bendon CEO Ben Ferguson. "We cannot be more excited to partner with Brantley Gilbert on this donation. He clearly supports and honors our military, and his generosity and charitable work prompted me to align Bendon's donation with him to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation."
