Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Receives $15 Million Gift

Spectrum Health has announced a $15 million commitment from insurance broker Acrisure in support of the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The funds will be used to establish the Acrisure Center for Innovation in Children's Health, a virtual center designed to support caregivers, physicians, and physician-scientists working to deliver leading-edge care and lifesaving therapies for pediatric patients. While the initial focus of the center will be on genomics and virtual health, it also will support new high-impact programs and projects as needs emerge.

"We're thrilled to accelerate our focus in the areas of genomics, precision medicine, and other innovative advancements in care for children," said Spectrum Health president and CEO Tina Freese Decker. "This remarkable pledge from a West Michigan-based company exemplifies the type of partnerships that help us make it possible to improve health, inspire hope, and save lives."

"Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children's Hospital embodies our passion for innovation and strategic growth and is a partnership we're intensely proud to be part of," said Greg Williams, co-founder, president, and CEO of Acrisure, which in 2019 announced plans to move its headquarters to downtown Grand Rapids from its current location in Caledonia. "It is my hope the commitment to form the Acrisure Center for Innovation in Children's Health will have a lasting impact on families throughout the community. Many Acrisure employees have been personally impacted by the care provided at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, and this partnership represents meaningful engagement opportunities for them as well."
