Iowa State Receives $7 Million Gift for New Business-School Building

Iowa State University has announced a $7 million gift from the Gerdin Charitable Foundation for an expansion of its College of Business.

Made as part of the the university's $1.1 billion Forever True campaign, the gift will help underwrite construction of a 35,000-square-foot, four-story addition to the school's existing Gerdin Business Building featuring new classrooms and faculty offices as well as space for student interaction.

Longtime supporters of the business school, Ann Gerdin and her late husband, Russell, provided the foundational gift for the Gerdin Building in 1998. The couple founded and built Heartland Express, a nationwide logistics and transportation company headquartered in North Liberty, Iowa.

"It has been wonderful to return to Iowa State and see the Gerdin family continue their support of the College of Business," said ISU interim president Benjamin J. Allen. "We are deeply appreciative of their generosity to expand their namesake building, thus ensuring we have the necessary space to provide our students a world-class education for years to come."
