The International Rescue Committee has announced a five-year, $15 million grant from the Athens-based Stavros Niarchos Foundation in support of its emergency response efforts and organizational infrastructure.
The grant will be used by IRC to transform its infrastructure and provide critical resources needed to sustain its emergency response work globally, including ongoing refugee relief efforts in Greece. Disbursed in equal increments over the period of the grant, the funds will be invested equally in emergency assistance programs and infrastructure development.
"The generosity of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation will not only enable the IRC to respond quickly when emergency strikes, but will also provide the foundational support necessary to sustain our response when the world's attention has moved on to the next crisis," said IRC president and CEO David Miliband. "This increased commitment from SNF, which builds on the foundation’s longtime support of the IRC, will help us achieve even more during this time of unprecedented humanitarian need."
