Irvine Foundation Awards $1 Million for California Dance Program

The San Francisco-based James Irvine Foundation has awarded $1 million to Dance/USA in Washington, D.C., to support the artistic development of California artists working in dance.

Each year, Dance/USA will award eleven or more grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 through its Dance: Creation to Performance program. The program is part of the multi-year Irvine Dance in California program.

According to Dance/USA officials, "Artists will be chosen based on their artistic talent and potential and the vision for the proposed new work, in relationship with their overall artistic goals."
