The Jessie Ball duPont Fund in Jacksonville, Florida, has announced summer grants totaling more than $2 million to twenty-six organizations.
The grants include $143,732 to Shands Jacksonville Properties to train front-line care providers and expand palliative care services to patients at UF Health Jacksonville suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses. The academic health center currently serves approximately four thousand palliative-care patients a year.
The awards also include $100,000 to St. Vincent's Medical Center to extend its mobile health ministry services to homeless persons in Clay and St. Johns counties in northeast Florida. The funds will enable the health van to provide acute and primary health care, screenings, labs, medications, flu vaccines as well as diabetic care and vision screenings on a monthly basis in St. Johns County and twice a month in Clay County.
