The Minneapolis-based McKnight Foundation has announced the 2011-12 recipients of its McKnight Artist Fellowships.
Forty-three local artists in twelve disciplines were selected to receive $25,000 each, per year. Since the program began in 1982, the foundation has supported more than 1,500 artists, awarding approximately $1.7 million a year to support fellowships offered by nonprofit arts organizations. The program also supports national artists in residence in ceramics, playwrighting, and music composition.
"The McKnight Artist Fellowships nurture and honor the dedication of Minnesota's individual artists," said McKnight Foundation board chair Robert J. Struyk. "As we all benefit from their creativity and hard work, we at McKnight are proud to support their ongoing success."
