The McKnight Foundation in Minneapolis has announced third-quarter grants totaling nearly $16.4 million to eighty-four organizations.
Seven of the eighty-six grants were awarded to organizations working to advance exceptional and diverse artistic practices in the region. Recipients include Dakota Wicohan, which was awarded $60,000 over two years in support of the Tawokaga arts program for Dakota artists; Eastside Arts Council, which will receive $25,000 to advance a program that partners artists with neighborhood development projects; Forecast Public Artworks which was awarded $196,000 over two years in support of its public art grant program; and the Walker Art Center, which will receive $275,000 over two years for mnartists.org, its online artists' community and marketplace.
"The breadth and depth of creative expression supported by these arts organizations reflects the artistic diversity of Minnesota as a whole," said McKnight Foundation board chair Meghan Brown. "McKnight is proud to facilitate their efforts to help artists do their work."
