Mercedes-Benz USA Awards $10.5 Million for Anti-Obesity Efforts

The Partnership for a Healthier America has announced a $10.5 million grant from Mercedes-Benz USA to help end childhood obesity in the United States.

The grant to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA will be used to expand in-school and afterschool programs that increase physical activity among youth, train and place more than one thousand coaches in twenty-five cities, and strengthen sport for development programs and youth sports organizations. MBUSA estimates the grant will impact a hundred and twenty-five thousand kids annually over three years.

"Investing in our youth and giving back to our local communities are integral to the culture at Mercedes-Benz USA," said MBUSA president and CEO Stephen Cannon. "Our ongoing collaboration and commitment to Laureus USA combines our passion for community and sports in a way that is making an impact. We look forward to continuing helping kids across the country build healthier futures."
