The first bequests from the Hale estate, part of what is expected to be a $12 million allocation in support of Missouri State students, include $2.25 million to each organization to create scholarship funds. The gift to the university will support scholarships for students at the Darr College of Agriculture, while CFO will establish scholarships for students from Barton and Vernon counties who attend the university.
Linda Hale and her late husband, Larry, were both alumni of Missouri State. The Hales farmed and raised cattle and worked in the real estate industry for more than forty years.
"Linda chose to leave the bulk of her estate to scholarships for MSU students because she and Larry were both grateful for the education they received at MSU. They credited their education for their success in life," said George Nichols, trustee for the estate. "She was passionate about helping students attend Missouri State and obtain a college degree."
