Motion Picture and Television Fund Campaign Receives $20 Million Commitment From News Corporation

The Los Angeles-based Motion Picture & Television Fund has announced a $20 million gift from News Corporation to its MPTF Campaign.

Launched in February, the $350 million campaign aims to meet the needs of industry workers and current and future retirees with charitable programs and services ranging from financial assistance for rent, mortgage, and food to counseling and healthcare support for uninsured and underinsured members of the entertainment community through a new program called Bridge to Health. The gift from News Corp. comes on the heels of a $30 million donation by LAC/InterActve Corp. chair Barry Diller in June.

"The MPTF is vital to the long-term health of the entertainment industry and provides crucial support to many valued members of the creative community," said Rupert Murdoch, chairman and CEO of News Corporation, which owns 20th Century Fox Studios and Fox Broadcasting. "I'm so pleased we can play a role in its ongoing success and hope that this commitment will spur others within the entertainment community to get involved and join this important mission."
