The fund will support pediatric research and innovative projects to advance the science and practice of pediatric health care. To that end, investments will be directed to both clinical and research program development and recruitment in the areas of greatest priority, including muscular dystrophy, interventions to improve outcomes for extremely premature newborns, and re-engineering a child's heart vessels from their own cells. The gift also will help support NCH’s strategic plan.
"This gift underscores the enduring strength of our commitment to Nationwide Children's Hospital," said NIF president Chad Jester. "This expands our philanthropic commitment to the hospital in a new, very impactful manner — with the opportunity to accelerate the development of life-saving cures and discoveries in pediatric medicine."
