Now in its second year, the annual program honors grantmaking organizations that have shown effectiveness, leadership, and innovation in addressing some of the nation's most difficult challenges.
Awards were made in four categories: corporate foundations, large private foundations, small/midsize private foundations, and community foundations. Selected from a pool of organizations nominated by the general public and narrowed by NCRP, the 2014 award winners are the Ben & Jerry's Foundation (corporate foundation); the California Endowment (large private foundation); the Hill-Snowdon Foundation (midsize private foundation); and the Liberty Hill Foundation (community foundation). The organizations will be honored for their "smart, high-impact philanthropy" at the Council on Foundations’ annual conference in Washington, D.C., next month.
"This year's 2014 NCRP Impact awardees are a class above other foundations in the country," said NCRP executive director Aaron Dorfman. "Their boldness, commitment to addressing the needs of the underserved, and dedication to strategies that change lives for the better is an inspiration to all who seek to be changemakers in their communities."
