NeighborWorks America, a congressionally chartered nonprofit, has announced grants totaling $70 million to revitalize neighborhoods, create vocational opportunities, and develop affordable housing through its nationwide network of nonprofits.
In fiscal year 2018, the NeighborWorks network of two hundred and forty-two nonprofits provided more than four hundred and fifty thousand individuals and families with housing and counseling services, home repairs, affordable housing rehabilitation, financial coaching, and job placement services. Over the past five years, the network has generated more than $34 billion in community investments nationwide.
"NeighborWorks America's proven ability to leverage $60 for every dollar of congressional appropriation is a testament to the remarkable performance of NeighborWorks America's network of nearly two hundred and fifty organizations located in all fifty states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia," said NeighborWorks America president and CEO Marietta Rodriguez. "We are proud to operationalize excellence through these grant awards to our powerful and innovative network. These organizations demonstrate their leadership every day in providing affordable housing opportunities, building strong neighborhoods, and creating jobs. In fiscal year 2018 alone, this resulted in a direct investment of $8.4 billion in communities across the country."
