The Otto Bremer Trust in St. Paul, Minnesota, has announced that it awarded $50.5 million in grants and program-related investments in 2018 to nearly six hundred organizations in Minnesota, North Dakota, and western Wisconsin.
The trust, which owns 92 percent of Bremer Bank, seeks to strengthen local communities by investing in organizations working to address community needs. The grants and PRIs, the largest one-year allocation in the trust's seventy-five-year history, will provide innovative financial solutions that help organizations invest in critical infrastructure and their own long-term sustainability.
"We continue to integrate our work at the intersection of finance and philanthropy," said Daniel C. Reardon, co-CEO and trustee of the trust. "Our unique structure as charitable trust and bank holding company allows us the opportunity to support communities across the region in a multitude of ways."
