St. Louis-based Parents as Teachers has announced a $2.55 million grant from the Ballmer Group to provide parent education and family support through home visits, child screenings, and coaching designed to help parents better understand their children's development.
The grant will enable the organization to expand staff and build its capacity to support thirteen hundred partner organizations that make home visits to nearly two hundred thousand families across the country every year. The funding also will help the organization grow its professional development and implementation support as well as its quality endorsement process.
"This investment enables us to continue providing technical assistance and oversight of service providers to ensure that they are responsive to the needs of their community and deliver the highest quality of services to families," said PAT president and CEO Constance Gully.
"We believe every child deserves a shot at moving up," said Ballmer Group managing director Jeff Edmondson. "Parents as Teachers profoundly impacts families that face the most obstacles to improving their economic condition by ensuring parents are positioned to succeed and their children have the competencies they need to thrive."
