The goal of the Campaign for Girls in Arizona is to provide the Girl Scout experience to more girls in the state, including those from underserved communities. The gift from the Parsons Foundation will match, dollar-for-dollar, all donations to the campaign received through the end of the year, up to $1.6 million.
The gift is in addition to a previous $5 million grant from the foundation to the campaign — the largest single gift ever received by a Girl Scout council nationwide — that enabled the completion of the Bob & Renee Parsons Leadership Center for Girls and Women at Camp South Mountain. The gift is the third to the organization from the foundation and brings the couple’s total support for the Girl Scouts to nearly $7 million.
“The Girl Scouts are doing incredible work in providing a safe environment for girls to try on their leadership hats,” said Renee Parsons, co-founder of the foundation. “Once this campaign is complete, the organization will be able to concentrate efforts on its true mission of fostering honesty, courage, friendship, and inclusion, while teaching important skills and serving girls in our community.”
