The board of directors of the Meadows Foundation has announced that PETER M. MILLER will succeed LINDA PERRYMAN EVANS as president and chief executive officer, effective January 1, 2020. Miller, the great nephew of founders Algur H. and Virginia Meadows, most recently served as senior vice president of private wealth management at Robert W. Baird and has served in multiple leaderships roles at Wells Fargo Advisors, Wachovia Securities, A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc., and Kidder, Peabody and Co. He also co-founded Sons & Daughters of Soulard and served as a board member for St. Louis Old Newsboys Day, the St. Louis Symphony, and the St. Louis Red Cross.
The Ford Foundation has announced the election of MARCA BRISTO and GBENGA OYEBODE to its board of trustees. Bristo is the founder, president, and CEO of Access Living, a Chicago-based disability service and advocacy organization that empowers people with disabilities to lead independent, satisfying lives. In 1994, she was appointed by President Bill Clinton to chair the National Council on Disability, becoming the first person with a disability to hold the position. Earlier, as a member of the U.S. Task Force on the Rights and Empowerment of Americans with Disabilities, she worked to draft and win passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. More recently, while president of the U.S. International Council on Disabilities, she campaigned for U.S. ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities. Oyebode is a founding partner and chair of the Nigerian law firm Aluko & Oyebode, where he advises corporations on matters relating to energy and natural resources, telecommunications, project finance, and aviation. He serves on the Global Advisory Council of the African Leadership Academy, is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and serves as director of Teach for All and chairman of Teach for Nigeria. He also sits on the boards of Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the Africa Philanthropy Forum and is a member of the Cleveland Museum of Arts International Collectors Council.
The Eugene and Agnes E. Meyer Foundation in Washington, D.C., has announced the election of KAREN WAWRZASZEK, senior director of financial planning at Sullivan Bruyette Sepros & Blayney, to its board of directors. Named one of Washingtonian magazine’s top financial advisers in 2018, Wawrzaszek is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Pomona Society, a diverse collective of women who collaborate to affect systemic change for women and families in the district; serves as treasurer of the Washington Area Women’s Foundation’s board of directors; and is a member of the Washington, DC Estate Planning Council and Family Firm Institute.
