The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation has announced the appointment of SUGANTHI SIMON as program officer for its quality-of-life initiatives, effective October 20. In her new role, Simon will be responsible for grantmaking programs and public service projects in Atlanta and beyond. Currently special assistant to the United States Environmental Protection Agency's deputy regional administrator, Simon has served in various roles at the EPA for fourteen years. "Throughout her career, Suganthi has developed visionary approaches that promote positive change in people's lives and build and enhance the communities in which they live," said John Bare, the foundation's vice president of programs. "Her attention to the needs of local residents and her creativity align perfectly with our mission, and we are grateful for her leadership on the arts, parks, youth fitness and public service."

The Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York has announced that IAN BENJAMIN will succeed JOHN CRAIG, JR. as board chair, effective December 1. Benjamin, who has served on the organization's board for ten years and as its vice president since 2009, is a partner at McGladrey LLP, where he leads the not-for-profit, education, and healthcare services practice as well as the employee benefit plans practice. He has, in addition, more than thirty years' experience working with nonprofit and higher education organizations. After thirty-three years of service with the Commonwealth Fund, Craig, who has served as NPCC's board chair for the past twenty-eight years, will step down from his position as executive vice president and chief operating officer at the fund at the end of the year.

The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation has announced the appointment of ALECIA DeCOUDREAUX to its board. DeCoudreaux, currently president of Mills College in Oakland, California, previously worked for more than three decades at Eli Lilly and Company in a number of senior managerial and legal counsel roles. In addition, she has provided board and volunteer service for several organizations, including Indiana University, Wellesley College, United Way of America, the Commonwealth Club of California, and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.

The Rita Allen Foundation has announced the election of GENEVA OVERHOLSER to its board. Overholser, currently senior fellow at the Center for Communication Leadership and Policy at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, is an independent journalist based in New York City. Previously, she was director of the USC Annenberg School of Journalism, the Curtis B. Hurley Chair in Public Affairs Reporting at the Missouri School of Journalism, chair of the Pulitzer Prize board, ombudsman at the Washington Post, a member of The New York Times editorial board, and editor of the Des Moines Register. Overholser began her career as a reporter for the C, and has been a syndicated columnist for the Washington Post Writers Group, a columnist for the Columbia Journalism Review, and a blogger for Poynter.org. She currently serves on the boards of the Academy of American Poets and the Women's Media Center, and is a member of the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism's advisory board.

The Gary Sinise Foundation has announced the appointment of BRUCE ROSE, founding CEO of the real estate firm Carrington Companies, to its board. Rose joins the board on the heels of his company's partnership with the foundation to construct homes for severely wounded veterans. Together with his wife, Rosemary, Rose has long supported nonprofit causes through the Carrington Charitable Foundation. He will join existing board members Gary Sinise and his wife, Moira Sinise, CPA Martin Licker, Jim Shubert of Shubert Furniture Design, and American Airlines Sky Ball chair Jim Palmersheim on the organization's board.
