The Aspen Institute has announced a $5 million gift from the Resnick Foundation in support of the Aspen Global Leadership Network, a worldwide community of entrepreneurial leaders from the business, government, and nonprofit sectors.
Among other things, the funds helped support — through scholarships and grants for travel expenses &&38212; the first annual Aspen Action Leaders Forum, July 29 through August 1, which brought together three hundred and fifty AGLN fellows with leaders of other Aspen Institute programs and partner organizations from more than thirty countries.
The gift from Aspen Institute trustee Lynda Resnick and her husband, Stewart, will count toward the institute's $75 million Scholars & Scholarships Campaign, the main priority of which is AGLN. The network currently comprises more than sixteen hundred fellows from forty-six countries who have been selected to participate in one of fifteen geographic or sector-specific Aspen Institute fellowships.
"Stewart and I are inspired by these leaders and the mark they are leaving in their communities around the world," said Lynda Resnick. "We loved the idea of supporting a flagship summer event here in Aspen where these leaders could connect with one another, share ideas, and turn inspiration into action."
