Schusterman Foundation Announces New Class of Schusterman Fellows

The Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation has announced a new class of Schusterman Fellows.

Launched in 2015, the highly selective eighteen-month program features an innovative curriculum aimed at developing participants' personal leadership capacity as well as their ability to foster collaboration and drive sector-wide change. To that end, fellows engage in individualized and cohort-based learning, work one-on-one with an executive leadership coach, and receive a stipend to expand their advancement opportunities.

The twenty-seven Jewish professionals and volunteer leaders are affiliated with organizations around the world and include Sonja Vilicic from Belgrade, Serbia, co-founder and executive director of Haver Srbija, which works to introduce non-Jewish populations to Jewish culture, history, and tradition; Rabbi Becky Silverstein, founder of Beyn Kodesh l'Chol, a Jewish communal project in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts; Maiya Chard-Yaron, executive director of Texas Hillel; and Gadi Ezra, a human rights attorney who advises the U.S. defense establishment on international strategic matters.

"The fellowship is based upon the philosophy that strong leadership is the key to building strong organizations and ultimately a strong sector," said Abby Saloma, director of leadership and talent at the foundation. "What makes the fellowship unique is its highly customized approach focusing first on the development of the 'inner leader' in order to create organizational and sector change."
