The Shubert Foundation in New York City has announced grants totaling $32 million to more than five hundred performing arts organizations across the country.
Unrestricted grants ranging between $10,000 and $325,000 were awarded to dance companies, professional theater training programs, nonprofit theaters, and service agencies. Grant recipients include the Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and the Public Theater in New York City.
"This year we are delighted to be offering support to five hundred and fifty-six performing arts organizations all around the country," said Shubert Foundation president Michael I. Sovern. "Our longstanding practice of providing help in the form of general operating support remains unchanged. We are convinced that talented artists and administrators are best able to decide how to use the funds we grant."
